Creative Funk

We all go through it, those times when as artist, writers and creative types we just can’t seem to find inspiration, we lose our focus and finding motivation is hard to come by.  Being in a creative business has its own unique challenges.  We can’t simply get up and go through the motions, art doesn’t work that way.  We might paint a picture or write a short story but it will come out flat and uninspired because it was uninspired.

That’s where I’ve been lately for a variety of personal reasons I’m not going to get into.  I’m facing a tough battle with it and is shows in the lack of activity here.  I’m not filling my gallery up with art, I’m not posting new fiction.  If you’ve wondered why, now you know.  But, I’m not giving up, I’m not done and this is far from over.  For those who know me, they’ll tell you determination is not something I’ve generally lacked in life.

I’m working through my own issues, I may blog some about the process and overcoming it.  Its something most artists face at one point or another and if sharing some of my own journey can help others with theirs that would be great.

Meanwhile I’ve been searching for what others have had to say on the subject and since I don’t have a lot of advice to offer at the moment I’ve decided to share some links to some articles I’ve found helpful.
